Lumyr was born from the desire to help others.
She started singing as a child. Her voice was her greatest passion, but she believed she had to hide it. Until she realized she couldn't.
After trying violin, flute, and setar, and recently learning ukulele and kalimba, Lumyr has woken from a deep dream and decided to make it real.
Her inner child always wanted to help others, so her adult self follows that path: she works and learns so that, one day, she can help independent artists promote their music.
Her compositions are full of imperfection, sensitivity, rarity, and novelty, venturing into the unknown and the uncommon. She doesn't seek to fit into any specific genre. Having grown up listening to different styles —from classical to metal and Nordic music—, loving to listen and sing in several languages since childhood, Lumyr won't betray herself to fit into industry boxes. Her goal is to follow her essence and her love for cultures and musical diversity.
She grew up listening to emerging, independent, and little-known artists, as well as more established ones, which has given her a deep affection and great compassion for them. Her biggest inspirations include Lila Downs, LP, Heilung, OOHYO, Ozcar Horna, Milo J, Fatoumata Diawara, IGNACY, Kuroyume, among others.
Her fight is against the homogenized music industry, against the loss of cultural identity, and against the idea that art must be "perfect" from the start. Her purpose is to unite cultures through music, to preserve tradition by integrating it into the modern. Her essence is a harmonious mishmash: rebellious with a cause, multilingual, multicultural, spiritual, and mysterious. Because in her music, it doesn't matter if the words are understood; what matters is that you feel the pain, peace, rage, or joy being conveyed.
Like the mantis —a spiritual guardian and great symbol of resilience and mysticism— Lumyr embodies authenticity, freedom, and patience on this new path full of difficulties and stumbles, but which she embraces with all her heart, because she knows very well why she does it: to follow her passion while empowering that of others.
